For the artwork/design of my skate board, I was inspired by Keith Haring’s art work. In 1988 Haring was diagnosed with AIDS, quickly after he established the Keith Haring Foundation. During the last few years of his life, he spoke about his illness and generated activism and awareness about AIDS through his art. Haring’s art style is cartoon like. Using bright colours and usually outlines of cartoon like people and animals.

The cartoon art style and vivid colours that Keith uses in his art, inspired me to branch out of my typical art style and create something new.

Bellow is Keith Haring’s website. On this site you can find his art, his biography and as well as his foundation.

These are some of the art works by Keith Haring that have inspired to create the artwork on my skateboard.

    Hey Kyra,

I love the story behind Keith Haring’s artwork as it is not only beautiful but it spreads awareness about something that not enough people talk about. I like that Keith Haring uses bright colours and makes cartoon looking characters because it brings some form of light to the topic.
